February 2013

Well it has been a long, sunny and fabulous summer in my part of the southern hemisphere….but now it is time to get back to work and especially blogging. I made christmas work ( way back in December ), including the tall porcelain houses, with the little birds on the top, for Gallery De Novo.
Last weekend I went to Christchurch, with new work for a lovely gallery/shop in Lyttleton, called Portico. It is always exciting when a gallery can’t wait to get your work on display, and are enthusiastic about the concept and materials. These small house are made of brick clay, with various cracking or degraded glazes. They are closely grouped to suggest communities, and as Lyttleton was badly effected by the Christchurch earthquake, the ideas behind my houses seem to have found some resonance.
